History
Purcari is the most popular winery among Moldovan wine producers, being a leader in the production of premium wines in Moldova. The estate is located in the Purcari wine region, south of the country.
The winery’s heritage dates back to the 19th century when French settlers partnered with local monks to begin planting Bordeaux varieties here, alongside the indigenous grape varieties.
Over the years, Purcari has won more than 250 medals in international competitions such as “Decanter World Wine Awards”, “International Wine & Spirits Competition”, “Challenge International du Vin”, and many other international competitions.
Purcari is the most awarded winery in Central and Eastern Europe.
Viticulture

Winemaking
Merlot de Purcari is a premium dry red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes, cultivated in Moldova’s renowned Purcari wine region.
The grapes are carefully hand-harvested and selected with precision, then vinified using traditional winemaking techniques. Aged for 6 months in French oak barrels, enhancing its structure and adding elegant notes of spice and vanilla.
Tasting
Merlot de Purcari reveals a deep ruby hue and a velvety texture. The bouquet offers complex aromas of ripe red fruits, including cherry and plum, complemented by subtle notes of chocolate and vanilla. On the palate, it delivers a harmonious balance of fruitiness and oak, with fine tannins and a lingering finish.
