History
Château Purcari, located in the south of Moldova, is one of the most prestigious wineries in the region, earning hundreds of medals in international competitions and ranking as the most awarded winery in Central and Eastern Europe.
Freedom Blend was released as a statement against Russian military and economic interventions in Moldova, Ukraine, and Georgia.
The grape varieties – Bastardo, Saperavi, and Rara Neagră – come from these 3 countries, making the wine a true political and cultural emblem in addition to an exceptional red wine.
Viticulture
Purcari follows a reasoned and sustainable viticulture, respecting the environment and the natural cycles of the terroir and the vine.
Vinification
Freedom Blend de Purcari is a bold and expressive red wine crafted from a unique blend of 3 indigenous grape varieties:
65% Saperavi (Georgia), 20% Rară Neagră (Moldova), and 15% Bastardo (Ukraine).
This assemblage symbolizes the unity and resilience of these 3 nations.
The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and undergo fermentation followed by 12 months of aging in French oak barriques, imparting depth and complexity to the wine.
Tasting
The wine presents a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it offers a complex bouquet of black cherries, red currant, ripe blue plum, red apple, rose hips, blackberries, complemented by dried plums and savory notes of moist wood and leather.
The palate is full-bodied and fruity, delivering elegance and refinement with a velvety, pleasant aftertaste.
