History
Moldova has a winemaking heritage dating back more than 5,000 years and is home to several indigenous grape varieties that give its wines a distinctive identity.
Among them, Rara Neagra is one of the country’s best-known red grape varieties, appreciated for its expressive fruit character and versatility.
With its Vinografia range, Aurelius Winery highlights the potential of Moldova’s native grapes through carefully crafted wines. This Rara Neagra is a fine example of the country’s evolving winemaking identity.

Viticulture & Winemaking
The vineyards are located near Nisporeni, in central Moldova, on south-west-facing slopes with clay-sandy soils.
The vines are planted at a density of 4,000 plants per hectare, with yields limited to approximately 5 tonnes per hectare.
Traditional winemaking techniques are combined with temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 22°C.
The wine is then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, developing greater depth and complexity while preserving the character of the Rară Neagră grape.

Aurelius Vinografia Rara Neagra displays an intense ruby-red colour.
The nose reveals inviting aromas of ripe berries and sour cherries, complemented by subtle sweet spice notes. On the palate, it is silky and well-balanced, with a pleasant structure and a long, gently spicy finish.
