Purcari Ice Wine is a rare and luxurious dessert wine made in Moldova from frozen Muscat Ottonel and Traminer grapes, harvested at -6°C to -8°C.

History
Founded in 1827, Purcari Winery is the oldest winery in Moldova, known for its rich heritage and expertise in crafting fine wines.
In 2021, for example, the property has won 333 medals in international competitions such as “Decanter World Wine Awards”, “Challenge International du Vin”, “Effervescents du Monde” and other international competitions.
All these appreciations make Purcari the most awarded estate in Central and Eastern Europe and even in the world.
Viticulture
The vineyards of Purcari are located in Moldova’s renowned IGP Ștefan Vodă region, nestled between the Black Sea and the Dniester River.
This area benefits from a unique microclimate, with sunny days and cooling sea breezes, ideal for growing white grape varieties like Muscat Ottonel and Traminer.
The careful manual selection of grapes ensures only the best are harvested for this ice wine, maintaining the exceptional quality Purcari is known for.
Winemaking
The winemaking process for Ice Wine is both traditional and precise.
Grapes are left on the vine until they naturally freeze, and then are handpicked and pressed while still frozen, preserving their concentrated sugars. The juice is slowly fermented to create a wine with intense sweetness balanced by refreshing acidity.
Aged to perfection, the result is a complex dessert wine with notes of honey, apricot, tropical fruits, and spices.
Tasting
Purcari Ice Wine from Maison Tanase displays a stunning golden color and offers an enticing aroma of ripe peaches, apricots, and lychee, intertwined with hints of exotic spices.
