Vintage 2017

History

Château Haut Marbuzet, located in the prestigious Saint-Estèphe appellation, has a rich history dating back to the 18th century.

The estate was revitalized in 1952 when Hervé Dubosq, driven by passion despite no formal training, purchased 7 hectares of vineyards. Over the next 50 years, Hervé, with his son Henri, expanded the estate to 61 hectares, making Château Haut Marbuzet one of the leading wines of Saint-Estèphe.

Today, Henri Dubosq continues the family legacy with his two sons, Bruno and Hughes, maintaining the estate’s reputation for exceptional quality.

Viticulture

The Château Haut Marbuzet vineyards are located on a gravelly hillside with a clay-limestone subsoil, facing the Gironde River.

This prime terroir is perfect for cultivating the estate’s signature grape varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc.

The vines are cultivated without the use of chemical herbicides, reflecting the Dubosq family’s commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for the environment.

Winemaking

Château Haut Marbuzet 2017 is crafted using traditional methods, with hand-harvested grapes.

The wine is aged in 100% new French oak barrels, which imparts a luxurious, creamy texture and enhances the wine’s natural complexity. This careful process results in a wine that is both approachable in its youth and capable of aging gracefully for 10 to 15 years.

Tasting

Deep ruby, with a velvety hue that hints at its aging potential.

Expressive nose with complex aromas of ripe blackberries, mocha, vanilla, and subtle spice. Notes of toasted oak and a hint of licorice add depth.

On the palate, the wine opens with a smooth, fruit-forward attack, leading to a well-structured mid-palate with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. The rich fruit flavors are beautifully balanced by hints of truffle, vanilla, and spices.

Perfect with hearty dishes such as grilled or roasted red meats, lamb, game, and rich sauces. It also complements earthy dishes like mushroom omelets and truffle-infused recipes, as well as strong cheeses like Livarot or Camembert.
Serve at 16°C (60°F) for optimal enjoyment.
