Champagne Ruinart Brut NV.

History

Champagne Ruinart, founded in 1729, is one of the oldest and most prestigious champagne houses in the world.

The House of Ruinart is unlike any other. It was the first established House of Champagne and inspired by the intuition of a monk well ahead of his time.

Established by Nicolas Ruinart in the heart of the Champagne region, this family-owned house has a rich history of craftsmanship and dedication to producing exceptional champagnes.

Today, the house is led by Frédéric Panaïotis, the cellar master, who skillfully combines tradition with innovation to create exquisite wines. The “R de Ruinart” serves as a quintessential expression of the house’s heritage, offering an invitation to explore the unique terroir and artistry behind each bottle.

Viticulture

The “R de Ruinart” is crafted from a blend of 40-45% Pinot Noir, 40% Chardonnay, and 10-15% Meunier.

The grapes are sourced from 40 to 50 different crus across the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. This diverse selection of terroirs contributes to the champagne’s remarkable balance and complexity, highlighting the house’s commitment to quality and excellence.

Winemaking

The winemaking process for “R de Ruinart” begins with meticulous manual harvesting, ensuring only the best grapes are selected.

The blend consists of 20-30% reserve wine from previous vintages, which adds depth and richness. After a gentle pressing, the must undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation.

The champagne is then aged for 2 to 3 years in the cellars, developing its distinctive character. With a dosage of 7g/L, this wine strikes the perfect balance between richness and freshness.

Tasting

In the glass, R de Ruinart Brut displays a stunning yellow-gold hue.
The nose reveals delicate notes of fresh apples, apricot, hazelnut, and almond, enriched by floral hints of elderflower and coriander seed. With further aeration, intense aromas of brioche and biscuit emerge.

On the palate, expect luscious flavors of yellow fruits, plum tart, and ripe stone fruits, enveloped in a harmonious roundness. The finish is crisp and refreshing, showcasing the hallmark vibrancy of Chardonnay.

Perfect as an aperitif or paired with seasonal vegetable dishes, cheese, a seasonal vegetable tart with goat cheese, featuring yellow and green zucchini, carrots, fresh goat cheese, ricotta, and thyme.

Best enjoyed chilled at approximately 8°C (46°F).
(Serving below this temperature can mute the wine’s aromatic intensity.)
