Château Franc Maillet 2019 is a well-balanced red wine from Pomerol with silky tannins and rich black fruit aromas.
Aged 12 months in French oak barrels.

History

The Château Franc-Maillet is part of the G.Arpin Vineyards, a Bordeaux family estate with a long history of winemaking at the Maillet location, just a few kilometers from the village of Pomerol.

The estate traces its origins back to the post-World War II period when Jean-Baptiste Arpin, returning from the war, purchased vineyard plots around Pomerol. Over the years, the property has expanded and now spans 36 hectares.

The G.Arpin Vineyards are represented in all four appellations of the region: Pomerol (Château Franc-Maillet), Lalande-de-Pomerol (Château Vieux Gachet), Saint-Emilion (Château La Fleur Chantecaille), and Montagne-Saint-Emilion (Château Gachon).

Viticulture

Château Franc-Maillet is produced in the Pomerol appellation, one of the finest terroirs in the Bordeaux region.

Cultivated on a 5.10-hectare surface, this small vineyard yields rare and high-quality wines.

The chateau’s vines have an average age of 32 years. They grow on well-drained gravelly to siliceous-gravelly soils, benefiting from excellent sun exposure.

Winemaking

This Château Franc Maillet 2019 from Pomerol is made with 2 grape varieties: 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc.

The significant percentage of Merlot gives wines that are round, elegant, with plenty of body and fruit.

The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, imparting beautiful lightly wooded notes to this wine, which still maintains predominant flavors of violet, black cherry, Morello cherry, ripe plums, and red currants.

Tasting

This fine Château Franc Maillet 2019 wine from Pomerol boasts a ruby robe with hints of black, expressing woody notes as well as very ripe blackberries. The smooth attack quickly gives way to a powerful and concentrated body.

Deep and youthful robe, verging on black. The nose reveals an expressive and charming bouquet, blending ripe small fruits, Morello cherry, sweet spices of a fine woodiness, and above all, that typical touch of violet from Pomerol.

The palate is round, fleshy, dense, generous, and harmonious, echoing the nose’s palette, with a mineral note and hints of stone fruit, characteristic of wines from gravelly soils. The finish is velvety, underscored by elegant tannins.

We kindly recommend you to serve this Château Franc-Maillet 2019 at 15-17°C (this temperature allows this exceptional wine to fully express its range of aromas and flavors).

Perfect with grilled, roasted, or stewed red meats. Amazing with your grills, barbecue and cooked dishes such as rabbit and roasted pork.
