History

Chateau Acker Perreau is produced by Vignobles Acker, one of the oldest estates in the Bordeaux region. This family-owned property has been passed down through generations, now managed by Jean-Paul Acker.

Situated in the town of Arbis, within the Entre-Deux-Mers region, the estate spans 37 hectares at an elevation of 109 meters. The vineyard, once a part of the Château Fort Benauge, was rebranded in 2010 from Château Perreau to Château Acker Perreau. This historical connection highlights the estate’s deep roots in Bordeaux’s winemaking tradition, blending modern techniques with respect for the land.

Viticulture

Chateau Acker Perreau’s vineyard covers 17 hectares of land with vines averaging 15 years of age.

The soils are predominantly clay-gravel, ideal for cultivating Bordeaux varietals. The vineyard is composed of 50% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Cabernet Franc, benefiting from a south-facing exposure. This combination of soil and sun allows for optimal ripening, contributing to the wine’s rich flavor profile.

Vinification

The winemaking process at Chateau Acker Perreau is a careful balance between tradition and modernity.

Grapes are vinified in stainless steel tanks with thermoregulation to maintain precise control over fermentation temperatures. The wine undergoes a maceration period of three weeks to extract color, tannins, and flavor, resulting in a structured yet elegant wine.

Following vinification, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, allowing the flavors to harmonize and develop complexity.

Tasting

Chateau Acker Perreau Bordeaux 2016 reveals a deep ruby color with an expressive and refined nose. Expect aromas of ripe black fruits, such as blackberry and plum, layered with hints of raspberry and subtle spices. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with a smooth texture, balanced acidity, and well-integrated tannins.
The oak aging contributes notes of vanilla and gentle smokiness, which elevate the wine’s fruity core. The finish is long and fresh, making it a versatile wine for a variety of dishes.

Perfect with grilled red meats, such as entrecôte or lamb chops, as well as hearty stews or aged cheeses.
Best served at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
